It was done on a whim. A good chunk of my college journey was in STEM. Starting off in Biology then in Math and eventually Digital Design.
How did I exactly end up in such a polar opposite major then where I started? I failed. To be exact, I failed my math courses for my Applied Math major. In a way it shattered my reality with math. I didn’t enjoy it as much anymore to push on and try again. I became lost in what to pursue next.
I felt pressured to pick a major that quote on quote makes money or even looks good. But what really mattered to me the most was finding something I could enjoy. It was very daunting to not know what to do next.
I then stumbled upon Digital Design after going down a rabbit hole of all the possible majors I could do. I started remembering how much I loved art as a kid and have been pushing it aside. This moment felt like the perfect opportunity to revisit that passion.
I have always loved art and wanted to pursue it. Failing my math courses turned out to be a blessing in disguise; it gave me the courage to explore a major related to the arts. Although I wasn’t sure what Digital Design entailed, I decided to take a leap of faith and see how it would go.
I love that you can both be creative, but also a problem solver. I like the fact that I’m creating designs that are thoughtfully made for clients and other. There’s so much to learn, which excites me.
Luckily, I made the right choice and I hope that the more I learn about Digital Design, the more I know what I want to pursue as career!
